ABOUT
FREDDIE
Kat Maxted (they/them) is a queer, trans/nonbinary multidisciplinary artist based in Barrie, Ontario, offering handpoke tattooing, custom illustration, drag costuming and theatrical, camp-infused drag performances as King Freddie.
With roots in theatre, music, and visual arts, Kat’s work is grounded in storytelling, transformation, and queer joy. Whether designing a meaningful tattoo, bringing a number to life on stage, creating original drag looks for clients, or illustrating bold digital artwork, Kat approaches every project with care, intention, and creative vision.
Kat’s artistic journey began in Erin, ON, where their love for theatre, visual arts, and music took shape. From painting sets and leading plays to busking with their beloved guitar “DaVinci,” art has always been a lifeline. After detouring through grief, fitness, and educational work, Kat found their way back to the arts—first through the transformative power of drag as King Freddie, then through digital illustration, and now as a handpoke tattoo artist.
Kat's work is tender, bold, often silly, and deeply rooted in queer joy and storytelling.
Let’s make something unforgettable together—book a tattoo, commission an artwork, or bring King Freddie to your next event.
